The wait is over. The makeup line just launched on November 1st, 2019.
Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson have been filming a series together for about a year now. It is all about the process of Shane collabing with Jeffree to make his own makeup line. And everyone is freaking. out.
Together, the two started filming in January but they haven’t stopped yet. A few years ago, Shane did a different documentary on Jeffree’s life so this one was more about the business side of building the makeup line and everything involved. This docu-series involved drama, tears, more drama, and more tears. Everyone gets to experience the behind the scenes of this project. You bet I grabbed my popcorn and sat down and watched it. It is so weird going back and seeing all the major events happen on film. Surreal experience for everyone involved!
Shane and Jeffree put together a makeup and merch line. The makeup included two eyeshadow palettes, one regular and one mini, a liquid lipstick kit with many colors, and then a clear gloss. Merch included hoodies and shirts, mirrors, makeup bags, and even regular bags. All items were each unique to Shane.
The “Conspiracy Palette” was the main focus for the series and it is retailing for $52, with 18 shades for use. Each shade had a small story behind it. My personal favorite is “Just a Theory” because it is champagne shimmer and those are my favorite shadows! All of Jeffree Star’s palettes have a creamy and pigmented effect, so it is no surprise that Shane’s palette is the same.
The other palette was the “Mini Controversy” retailing for $28, offering 9 shades. Both palettes are super practical but this one makes it easy for on the go with a little more “workable” colors. Eight of the colors are totally brand new and not in the other palette but there is one neutral brown that appears in both.
Next came the liquid lip collection. Following the theme of the palettes, each shade had something meaningful tied back to Shane. There are six different lips that sold for $90, and in my opinion, was a little pricey, but that’s show biz baby. There was also a gloss and a balm for sale.
This whole project drove people insane. People were freaking out (including me and my friends) that even the whole website shut down the day of the launch. Everything in the collection is sold out now which is a little sad because I was wanting to get one of the glosses for myself...Maybe next time though.
All of this is coming in time perfect for the holiday season, along with so many other launches of big beauty brands.
